DANCE OF HOPE: Stroke Awareness Event
Atlanta’s arts, music, cultural, sports, and medical communities will come together on Saturday, March 3, 2012, for the Dance of Hope Stroke Awareness Event at the Defoor Centre in Atlanta from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

JOIN FORCES!
The Dance of Hope : Stroke Awareness Event will feature a wide variety of unique entertainment, including live flamenco music and dance performances from several local, national, and international flamenco artists; a never-before-seen DVD presentation of Angelita Vargas' performance (from unpublished footage of "Dos Ramas"); an art and photo exhibition; silent auction; a raffle of concert tickets (Paco de Lucia on April 7 and Flamenco's Journey by Anoushka Shankar on March 24), a demonstration of the Feldenkrais Method Therapy; and more.

Event includes: a charity performance by a dancer, Cihtli Ocampo and guitarist, Ethan Margolis (above) and a motivational speech by former professional cyclist, Saul Raisin, who made a miraculous return to life from a brain injury during the Circuit de la Sarthe bicycle race in France in 2006 (below).

This is an internationally recognized event that has been organized to spread awareness on stroke prevention/detection and to support the rehabilitation of stroke & brain/spinal cord injury survivors, such as Angelita Vargas, a globally acclaimed gypsy flamenco dancer who is recovering from her stroke in June 2011.
