Design Contest Call for Entries

Become the designer of the 2010 Fronteras poster! For the first time, jaleolé is holding a competition for the annual poster design for Fronteras, the annual flamenco student expo. The winning design will be printed as the poster for the 6th annual Fronteras production. And, the winner of the design contest will receive two free general admission tickets to Fronteras 2010 Flamenco Student Expo, on May 15 at the Robert Shaw Theater of North Atlanta High School.

Entry Deadline:

11:59 PM on February 3, 2010

Rules:

1) Participants of this design contest will create an original and exciting look for the student flamenco expo.

2) Only electronic submissions are accepted.

3) All imagery, including photographs, must be original work and owned or licensed by the designer. By submitting designs, participants acknowledge that they own or have permission or have been licensed to use all contained imagery, graphics, drawings, photographs or other artwork in the design.

4) The official Fronteras logo will be added to the winning design. The logo is available in EPS upon request. However, participants are not required to include this logo with submissions, as it will be added to the winning design.

5) Submit designs by 11:59 PM on February 3, 2010 to: jaleole@att.net with the subject title "Fronteras 2010 Look, and the design in a JPG file attached to the e-mail. The dimensions of the design must be created at 11"x17" vertical at 300 dpi. The entry must be submitted as a JPG file at 72 dpi at 25% design dimensions. File size must be 800K or smaller. The body of the e-mail must contain the following information: name, address, phone number, and interest in flamenco (i.e.,"I am a fan of flamenco, "I am learning to sing," "I love to dance," "I just picked up my first flamenco guitar,").

6) The winner of the design contest will be chosen by February 8, based on the following visual communication criteria:
A) Does the poster design/image reflect the energy and spirit of Fronteras Student Expo?
B) Does the poster design/image show the diversity of flamenco?
C) Does the poster design/image represent the art of flamenco?
 
Please make sure at least 2 of 3 criteria listed above are covered in the design. Five staff members will select three semi-finalists. The winner will be chosen from the group of semi-finalists. The winners will be decided and announced by February 8, 2010.

7) The winner of the design contest will be notified by February 15 via the e-mail address from which the submission is sent.

8) Some necessary modification may be applied to the winning design as necessary during the production of all collateral. The collateral includes but is not limited to:

- Poster
- Officialy show flier and postcard
- jaleole.com home page, Fronteras-related webpages of jaleole.com, weekly jaleole.com electronic newsletter, etc.
- DVD cover (if available by vendor)

9) The winning design becomes the property of jaleolé, and will be used in 2010 and thereafter as related to jaleolé editorial and promotional activities.
